Todd Weiler, a Utah State Senator, shared a series of posts on April 5, 2026, highlighting aspects of Elder Dale G. Renlund’s service and experiences within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In one post, Weiler recounted the unique missionary experience of Elder Renlund and his brother: “He and his brother were both called to serve in Sweden at the same time — though they were never assigned as companions. When Elder Renlund visited Sweden as an apostle, it was the first time an apostle of the Lord had ever addressed members in their native language.” (April 5, 2026).
Weiler also noted Elder Renlund’s leadership role in Africa: “While presiding over the Africa Southeast Area — overseeing about 20 countries — he made nearly 40 trips alone to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.” (April 5, 2026).
Another post described a formative spiritual experience from Elder Renlund’s youth: “Living in Sweden, young Dale followed a mission president’s challenge to read the Book of Mormon — even though he wasn’t yet a deacon. When he prayed to know if it was true, he received a distinct impression: ‘I’ve been telling you all along that it’s true.'” (April 5, 2026).
Elder Dale G. Renlund has served as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles since October 2015. The Quorum is one of the highest governing bodies in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its members are considered prophets, seers, and revelators by church adherents.
